Depending on your prescription, and if you have any discounts with insurance, we use one of two places. Four Eyes in Weymouth gives you "buy one, get one" and BJs allows you to purchase glasses at a reasonable price without requiring a membership. My son takes very thick lenses so he needs the think polycarbonates. BJs always prices best for those. My husband has a weak prescription, no special lenses required, so Four Eyes is a good deal.

If we all sang the same note in the choir, We'd never have harmony

My experience.....BJ's not only hires people who are not qualified, but they gave me the wrong prescription. They also have no knowledge on how to fit glasses properly.

Maybe we had different people (or used different stores) Capt.? We've used BJs several times with no problems. We tried Walmart for my mother. They were great years ago when the kids were young. I believe they shifted to a different eyeglass provider in recent years. My mother's glasses were never right. She could not see with then and they were disrespectful when she tried to explain her vision wearing them. They basically told her they matched her doctor's prescription so she must be wrong.

My experience with BJ's was a number of yrs. ago. Though they may have changed, I would never go back. Such episodes are not easy to forget. I'm blind now so it doesn't matter. The only way I can operate the computer is to make the screen enormously large, but then I have to move everything around from side to side and back and forth in order to read anything. Pain the the butt.

I'm sorry for your loss of sight, Capt. and I know you are a very tightly fixed income. I do not know how reliable they are, but there are free programs that can be downloaded to enlarge your screen and give you tools to make that task less cumbersome.

Thanks CH. I do what I can, but it isn't very much.
Biggest problem is being deaf as well,. I can't see
much of the TV and always relied on closed caption,
but now I can't see it. Oh well.
