Carpenter did the right thing...face it! These losers were wasting city services and needed to be moved! As for his new Director, I think the position is warranted. People should leave their petty jealousies behind and support the mayor!

Carpenter did the right thing in the short term, not sure how he can prevent reassembling in the future. Gee, I don't agree with their life choices but the words you use are so incredibly patronizing. But I think you do that on purpose.

"Brockton Area Branch NAACP President Stephen Bernard said his organization “overwhelmingly” supports the hire. Carpenter said the establishment of the new position is strongly favored by the city’s minority community, adding that this is especially important in a majority-minority community, where 35 of the city’s 36 supervising officers are white."

While most emphasize with the homeless plight, they can't live at the peril of others..you can offer services and hope they partake these services. All that propane exploding boggles the mind of the disaster that could've occurred. The Mayor handled this the correct and dignified way.

drug addicts took over. It is however something that should never have been
allowed to begin with.
As many times as I tried to get people into Pine St. Inn, I failed because they
were too frightened of the place and well they should have been. I don't care
how well the place was run. You not only had to sleep with one eye open, but
would wind up with lice, etc. if you didn't have it to begin with. Your belongings
were stolen or you might get beat up. The attacker would be banned for so many
days and some allowed to return after a period of time.
So, what I'm getting at is unless you really know or have lived in their shoes,
never criticize.
Btw, you need an address in order to acquire a job. This is another reason why
they are unemployed.

so that's it, huh?... pretty cut and dry, very simple
you know, not everyone possess the same mettle you might .... especially those whose lives have been impacted by mental illness, trauma, and anything else across the very wide spectrum off ill health
I wonder how your decision making abilities would fare if you had a father who literally beat you on a daily basis when you were a child, so bad that in adulthood it affected how your brain works and you now hallucinate, have seizures and don't even have the cognitive ability to change your clothes or bath
...or if your were ritually raped and brutalized as a child by family members, and as an adult you tried desperately to hang on to some semblance of normalcy by having a family of your own, but you just couldn't do it because the haunting horrific memories ultimately crippled you and affected your mental faculties in such adverse ways that you can't even leave your measly boarding room
... or if when you were 18 and got into a car accident on 495 on the way to the wrentham outlets to buy clothes for your first day of school, and you were thrown from the vehicle and it severed your spine, and now you find yourself confined to a wheelchair for the rest of your life... mind you, you were an all-star athlete and played on an irish football team, as well as local soccer teams
... or if you were diagnosed as schizo-depressive, and the only medicine you take is one that some idiot caseworker from DMH who could really give two craps about you decides to prescribe you is for ADHD, and it just doesn't work.... but because you're 26 and have shown an employment history (mind you, 2 months is the most you've ever spent at a job) you don't qualify for MassHealth, and now you self-medicate to cope
... or if all your life you were successful, with degrees in finance, working for high-profile investment firms... and your wife and 7 year old decide they want to go to Ireland to see family and they die in a plane crash
... or if your daughter is murdered by some shit-head boyfriend, and your only way of dealing with it is to escape the pain through drinking, because let's face it.... who the hell cares, right?
... or if you worked at a gas station in Brockton, were robbed and beat within inches of your life... so bad that it put you into a coma, that when you awoke you now struggle with a myriad of health issues that plague your daily existence... and the only treatment you get is at the local health center from a doctor that just doesn't give a sh!t because your only insurance is MassHealth
... or if you were just genetically predisposed to agoraphobia, anxiety and clinical depression... and your only recourse when feeling like you want to rip your skin off and pull your stomach out is to call an ambulance, and then lay at south shore hospital for weeks at a time waiting for some lousy bed sponsored by the DMH that is so grossly underfunded that they keep you there.... just for observation
I got dozens more
yeah, i wonder how stellar your decision-making abilities would be, let alone your employment record
that self-discipline, though!.... forgot about that.... my fault

The attitude that they don't need or deserve help is not a help either.
Frankly it's offensive.

I don't remember ever even suggesting I did, say for the self-discipline for which you so proudly boast
yet, YOU presume to know everything about the people you so zealosuly abhor, labelling yourself as a winner, and they as losers
bravo to you
