Sanctuary City
If you don't know what a Sanctuary City is, in a nut shell, it is a City where law enforcement is limited in how they handle illegal immigrants and refugees. Meaning , they can arrest them but cannot hold them for ICE. All but the violent criminals will be getting a free pass. Being a sanctuary City will mean possibly, Syrian refugees. Couple that with the Trust Act (that's the thing where law enforcement is limited) and Brockton will become a nightmare. We barely have enough Police to keep the residents we have now safe.
Now, I tried so very hard to find some info on what is going on but media went dark. I posted about it on the Brockton Hub, but that only lasted a few hours until it mysteriously disappeared. I PM'd Lary to ask him what happened and I have not heard back and I doubt I will. Someone I trust had tipped me off, someone on the inside that for obvious reasons cannot put his face on it (he shall be referred to as Dark Helmet in any and all discussions of this matter) So, in a nutshell, my post disappeared from the Hub but not before I was contact by a Journalist from the EPrise. He's going to write about it. He had heard the same thing back in 2015 too. I have been googling my ass off trying to find more info that will tie DuBois and Barnes and the rest to it. My friend showed me a screen shot of Dubois with Rodriques discussing the plan. We need people on this so if you have a little time feel free to research all you can. Dadof2, you are pretty close to what's going on in Brockton, maybe you can shed some more light on this. I would hate to see Brockton get this stuffed up their ass, not with all the other problems we face.

"Great turn out in support of the trust act tonight. I'd say more than 80 people were in attendance!"n Looks like there are a couple concerns the Chief of Police had with language and he is willing to work with the community via Moises M. Rodrigues, the ACLU and Brockton Interfaith Community to get them straightened out. Looks good for passage next month!
It looks like this meeting was specifically about building trust between police and community.

It is my understanding that the City ordinance is voting for Brockton to become a sanctuary City, is this true? I saw an article with Michelle Dubois and Moises Rodriguez discussing the Trust Act. This is a precursor to becoming a Sanctuary City. Why, when other Cities and states that have adopted the trust act are having problems. We can't cover the residents we have now, adding thousands more that will only be dumped back on the street when they should be deported is crazy. Please reconsider any vote in favor of the trust act. It would be the biggest mistake this City ever made.
Sincerely,
That's pretty much what i wrote. You can use it as a base or use your own thoughts.
As of yet I haven't heard back from Mr. Cruise. Tom Monahan keeps insisting that the Trust Act has nothing to do with being a sanctuary City. And so far, lary hasn't touched my post on the Hub. I told him I screen shot the bitch in case it disappears again. LOL

The following bill is in the State House. Not sure status but another reason to not go down the Sanctuary City Path.
An Act relative to sanctuary cities and towns
By Mr. Lombardo of Billerica, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 1856) of Marc T. Lombardo and Shaunna L. O’Connell for legislation to withhold unrestricted general government aid to cities and towns that self designate themselves as sanctuary cities or towns or fail to enforce the federal immigration laws. "Undocumented immigrants who reside in Brockton will be able to report crimes to local police without fear of deportation under a new proposal being considered by the Brockton City Council, according to supporters of the measure. Backers of the Trust Act packed Brockton City Council Chambers on Tuesday, calling for the passage of the local ordinance, which has been adopted by five other cities in Massachusetts.
Supporters of the Trust Act said the ordinance would reassure Brockton residents who have overstayed their visas, or came into the country illegally, that they cannot be detained by the city’s police department on behalf of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for non-criminal violations of federal immigration law. “No Brockton Police Department personnel shall arrest or detain an individual solely on the basis of an immigration hold or administrative warrant,” a draft of the ordinance states. “No Brockton Police Department personnel shall respond to an ICE notification request seeking information about an individual’s incarceration status, length of detention, home address, work address, personal information, hearing information or pending release.”

"ACTION ALERT: Tomorrow, the US Senate will vote on 2 racist bills that seek to punish immigrants and incite more hatred. One of these bills would punish & cut important funding for "sanctuary cities" - like Boston - that reject racist polimigra practices. "
TWEET to MA @SenWarren and @SenMarkey let em know that they need to take a stand against racist proposals, immigrants are #NotYourScapegoat.
Then do the same for other Senate leaders! We can't afford to have elected leaders remain silent in the face of growing white supremacy.

Yeah, Brockton is not trying to become a Sanctuary City

Edited to add: They're also using blackmail to cities who don't comply. Nice!
