boxerfamily wrote: I am always amazed at how Brockton people put their own city down. I have moved 3 times in this city from a small 3 bed colonial , to a nicer colonial to my current place which I paid about $450, 000 for. Brockton is a great place if you want it to be
Except for a few years when I was a child, Brockton has been my home for the majority of my life and its changes are drastic. Despite that, I remain a satisfied resident as my posts show. I stand by my opinion that this neighborhood is out of place and the simple notion that the city has limits on its housing values. When we purchased our house we unknowingling overpaid on our R/E taxes for years due to an error on our property card and the comps used to determine them. I see similar problems when people buy half-million dollar houses in the middle of a quarter-million neighborhood. Not my problem, thankfully, but I am voicing my thoughts as this forum allows. Despite my many years here, our leaders do not give me a good feeling. As most people would, I admit I would leave in a minute for greener pastures with 500k+ in my bank account. As Capt says, any place is a nice place if you want it to be. It takes respect, cleaning products, maintenance, and pride. That has nothing to do with this forum, however. Mowing down every bit of nature in what's left of our neighborhoods for greed and millions in profit is great for the developer.

Second point....some people in Brockton want to stay and need or want larger homes than the stock that existed prior to the development of new locales. This city needs much; however, it is starved for capital investment and the best way for the city to become viable is to have people move here who have disposable income. Right now it is sad that virtually everything I consume comes from stores outside the city; be it Nordstrom's, Roche Brothers, Easton Pool etc....or restaurants of even modest caliber like Stoneforge, Cafe Bella, Legal Seafoods etc are all outside the city. If night comes I must go to Quincy or Boston to hear a live band and park my car in an area where I can access safely. So, anyone moving here with the one color we need, GREEN, is welcome and encouraged. I do appreciate your loyalty to Brockton though Clifton....if more were like us we'd have less to deal with!

Light Travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. <br />We were born with two ears and only one mouth ... Think about it!
