SO I am anticipating my house selling. We have an offer, and now we're just going through the mounds of procedure needed.
What is the best idea for a housewarming gift that says "Welcome to Brockton?"
Please... Serious replies.

How about ... a basket full of menus from local restaurants, important phone numbers and contact information for various city departments and schools; an invitation to join this website, and, most important of all, detailed lists of all the things you would like to know about your house "just in case." When we helped my aunt move into a home nearby, we had no idea of the quirks and maintenance details of the structure. We learned by trial and error but we sure wish we thought to ask such things as - who performed professional services like electrical, plumbing, furnace cleaning/tuneups? Where is your water main shutoff? Are there any special things you do to winterize? What major repairs were made and are there records? Do you have an envelope of manuals or dates or service? Is there a neighborhood crime watch? Any situations about which you can give them some information, warnings, preparation? These are the things I would appreciate.

What a nice idea Dave. I always thought housewarming gifts came from family, friends and neighbors. Your idea is a nice touch and classy!
Great ideas everyone.
