Brockton average teacher pay $84,250
Easton $71,560
Difference $12,690 multiplied by 1525 teachers equals $19, 300, 000 dollars difference.....................Easton has better schools and lower pay.....time for the teachers to take a pay cut...................or do they care more for the check than the children???

it's because brockton is considered an urban district... and as such, the students are far more difficult to educate... so anyone applying for teaching positions in brockton are given a pay incentive .... most of them also have their masters degrees paid for by the state

My teacher has 2 undergrad degrees and a required Masters and 4 years of experience. She makes $55,000. It's going to take her very long time to reach $80,000. That assumes she is still there. Received RIF's 3 out of 4 years.
ETA: State didn't pay for her Master's though at least in the short term. She got a 1k bump but it cost $9,000 for Masters paid out her pocket. And, it's mandatory to receive within 5 years of undergraduate degree.

People choose a career that they either love or excel in. Along with that should go the knowledge of what the pay scale is going to be in the future based on past years.

Worcester 78,256 and Lynn 73,395 Brockton is number 17 in state for average pay!! We are well above other cities..............keep making excuses for the waste of taxpayer money.........Brockton receives enough money from the state; it is how we waste it that amazes!

These are contractural, negotiated raises. Often giving up something to get something. The majority don't make anywhere near $80,000. The median salary for teachers with 5 years experience with an undergraduate plus a Masters (5 years College) is $61,000. I'm not talking about Administrators, I'm talking Certified teachers. And I agree that Farwell asked good questions and should continue to ask them.

And I said, Farwell asked good, intelligent questions. And should continue to do so. But he did have outdated and incorrect info on some.
We can agree to disagree. Moving on ....

I hear of so much fear teachers have today. Whatever happened to expelling these little thugs like they used to? Other students shouldn't have to be subjected to this.
WE are at fault for allowing such disruptions in our schools. You couldn't pay me double to be a teacher with all that I've heard go on.
Yes, they deserve a raise, but all of us do. The economy isn't any different for any of us.

As for exec admins these salaries are not only in line with that type of duty but underpaid if working private sector in Boston. I have hired exec admins at 75-90k for Boston roles
you cannot compare the roles of secretaries at CH and school admin for these two positions because the roles and hours are quite different

How about the politicians act like grown ups and meet, talk, share and stop disparaging two employees publically. Then come back and report their comparable findings.

And I can't imagine, Farwell would debate municipal vs School salaries in a public forum despite JT assertion.

The jobs that these two perform are needed. They are not fluff jobs or silly salaries. If they were paid 100k each then yes that would be too much for that role.
I have never witnessed either of these two not working hard.
These jobs are not a typical 9-5 but all hours of day and night.
This seeks to make one look fiscally responsible while making others not and politicizes certain roles hoping people wont look at the role but just the salaries
