Campanelli Stadium/B21
"A new amended lease approved by the Brockton 21st Century Corp. for its tenant at Campanelli Stadium, the Brockton Rox, has caused local elected leaders to revisit questions about the future of the facility. The Brockton 21st Century Corp., a taxpayer-funded nonprofit focused on economic development, recently approved a new amended lease that will divert annual rent payments owed by the Brockton Rox into an account for building maintenance.
The move prompted local elected leaders to question B21’s role as the longtime landlord for the stadium and its adjoining event hall, The Shaw’s Center, as well as the financial viability of the property in general. Representatives of the Brockton 21st Century Corp. are being called before the Brockton City Council to discuss the matter on March 21.

And hypothetically are there any rules in the City Charter that would prevent Win Farwell to run for Mayor (not that he's expressed any interest). He really knows his stuff.
I'll post the meeting when it's available. It's well worth your time to watch it if you're interested in this mess.

Scott wrote: I kind of have to agree with Boxer. I think the down fall of the Campenelli Stadium and the Shaw's Center and the Rox was more due to the administrations who took over after him. But because they are failing and he brought them in, he's the bad guy. Look at the stupidity of our current CC and the really stupid choices they have made. The Aquaria contract is a shining beacon of their idiocracy (movie reference). "We have to approve it before we can read it" type of thing.
If you haven't watched the Finance Meeting from last night, when it's posted please watch. Pay special attention to Farwell's questions and comments. It's very enlightening and shows you the horrible situation that this deal put the taxpayers in. Then you can decide who's at fault for this monstrosity.
Also, I do not believe there are any current CC who were involved in the signing of the Aquaria Contract? (Correct me if I'm wrong). Another debacle of a contract that we can't get out of. So I don't see how the current CC and the Mayor can be blamed for this?

Daisy wrote: I heard from a good source that Emerson College will be using Campanelli stadium for their baseball home games. Any use is good use, sure they will be paying some type of User Fee of some type, I hope!!
According to this, they are already playing there. Unfortunately, none of those fees go back to the city.

I felt last night we were being told by B21 to just shut up and be happy and not question anything and any questions are not being business friendly
