2 Administrators will be recalled. This Was per the MAYOR. He went as far as to say allegedly if the 2 Administrators weren't recalled, HE THE MAYOR was going to rescind the almost $1million dollars he added to the School Budget and put it in that big black hole called the stabilization fund. So blame that on the Mayor.
Now under full disclosure, I left this meeting as it was unbelievably long. So I will wait and watch it on Friday. But my understanding from several people is this is how it went down.
The City is a financial mess being run by a dictator.

"After the school committee voted to bring back the eight high school teaching positions and the four other positions at the superintendent’s discretion, Carpenter pushed for a vote to refill the assistant principal position at the Goddard Alternative School, in addition to the guidance counselor supervisor position, despite vice chairman Thomas Minichiello initially saying that the proposal was going to be on the agenda for a meeting on August 2. As he implored the committee to take up the vote, Carpenter told school committee members that the city government could instead just keep an anticipated $618,000 in state funds that the school system was relying on to meet its budgetary needs for the coming school year.
Carpenter stated that earlier during the budget planning process, the city committed beyond what was mandated by a net school spending requirement. “I guess I might politely remind the committee that we have already exceeded the city's requirement to fund education this year,” Carpenter said. “So one of the options on the table for me on August 2 is to put the $618,000 in the city's stabilization account and tell you, ‘We're all done,’ for whatever that's worth.”

I don't know what will be more entertaining...the upcoming Presidential Debates or the "Battle of the CC and Mayor". Thinking both.

boxerfamily wrote: Best way not to cut is to grow the city budget by lowering the commercial rate, raising the residential rate and enticing new businesses here. Then Brockton Kids will be able to do more than just count! They may be able to add, read, write , and succeed!
Thats insane. What Brockton has to do is get rid of our City Council, adopt a strong Mayor Weak Council form of Government and settle the Power Plant Lawsuit, let them build, charge them for the reclaimed wastewater or sell them the frigging water from the frigging aqauria! Christ! We have resources that the CC will not allow us to use!!! WTF! Every problem in this City stems from the City Council. When Balzotti was Mayor, they led her around by the nose, Carpenter don't play that so hence all the frigging lawsuits. Farwell is a dick and he's selling this City down the river to the illegals.

Not one CC including the Mayor has said they won't support the Trust City Act so not sure why you've signaled out Farwell?

Yet Brockton kids count

"Seven elected members of the Brockton School Committee would get $2,000 raises in their annual stipend for the first time in two decades under a new proposal put before a City Council committee on Tuesday, according to its sponsor.
Councilor-at-large Winthrop Farwell made the case on Tuesday night for the total increase of $14,000 per year in the city budget in order to give the school committee members a raise that would take effect on Jan. 1, 2018. Farwell said the last time the Brockton School Committee received a stipend increase was in 1998. Each school committee member currently receives a $3,000 annual stipend, Farwell said.'

While the school committee works hard so do our teachers and support staff.
I would rather in hard times turn that money back to the kids and those who need it more than me.
At this point in time as a campaign promise I am going to either forgo the raise or give the net number back to the kids through donors choose or other ways
This is a leadership issue for me.
Strong leaders know when its people are hurting and lead by example.
I got into this to help our kids and in hard times we need to show leadership more than ever.
While this raise is more than commensurate with the duties I need to put our kids first
