Ward Councillors
Spears said he attended the Thursday event to ensure students would be safe.
“Is it right to walk out in protest? No,” Spears said. “But something is obviously going on, and the community has to listen. I support them, either way.”
There were 50 kids. Why would he think they wouldn't be "SAFE? School Police, Principal, Staff all out there. They broke the rules and an adult not associated with the School facilitated this. What if he gets elected and doesn't like an issue will he walk out?

Spears facilitated the walkout by 50 students who have issues with the demerit system.

School Committee Vice Chairman Thomas J. Minichiello Jr., however, described the protest as “misguided” and “reckless” because of the adults involvedwho he said encouraged the walk-out and then attended it.
He said it takes quite a bit of negative behavior to earn a demerit at the school, and those who receive such disciplinary action deserve it.
“Students need to take responsibility and stop pointing a finger,” he said. “Actions have consequences. And apparently some people don’t feel they need to play by the rules.”

dadof2 wrote: No one disputes Tom's dedication. But he, as well as the entire CC, are continuing to use needed monies to litigate the PP. The day the first shovel goes into the ground the COB will get 2.8 million dollars. 1 million to Public Safety and 1 million to Schools. 173 Teachers received RIF notices, there's talk of FF being laid off and closing a Fire House. STOP LITIGATING. We need the revenue.
I don't believe that Mr. Monahan is named as a defendant in the lawsuit. Brockton City Council and Planning Board, as well as Mayor Linda Balzotti, former mayor James Harrington, former City Council president Thomas Brophy, council members Michelle DuBois and Jass Stewart, Planning Board chairman Wayne McAllister, and board member Susan Nicastro.
McAllister and Nicastro, (the planning board) actually did some pretty illegal things. They both pretended that the filings from BCE were not properly done and lied about the reasons that it did not meet the requirements. Of course the other defendants knew about this. That and all the rezoning changes which they tried to block the construction. They are some very bad people.
