I will look into it, I have been meaning to for a while. I do believe that Brockton could raise money how much I don't know but I do believe they can without raising taxes and I hope any candidates will look at this Business call Brockton and see where they are losing money and where they can gain money by not raising taxes all the time.

I am on the custodian negotiation subcommittee and I was able to negotiate the crossing guard costs with the team saving the city over 400,000 from the year before. We have about the same number of positions and our pay rate is $25 per hour vs the $40 to $50 per hour we were paying.
We are still dealing with the contract but this was already agreed upon in september

no lost opportunities at all... politicians have everything to gain by immersing themselves in the company of idiots who they know can vote
think about it.... if you're a politician, is it easier to answer dumb, passionate questions by prospective voters... or intelligent, impartial ones that require some hard thought?

Just because people don't post, doesn't mean they don't read. And a candidate should always go after a vote, even if it's just one. And there is a lot of new faces running. It's an opportunity to introduce themselves to a group that votes.

I disagree. With this new site, a lot of the radicals defected to FB and those of us who remain are capable of discussing these topics without the attacks of the past. I have not made up my mind, nor has anyone that I know. I find the information here to be thorough and truthful. Candidates would be wise to speak to those of us who are most likely to vote. I doubt they will drum up much from the HUB.

My skin is thick enough to handle it, but it becomes unproductive.
I would like to believe that I'm doing a good job getting out there and meeting people, but alternative methods of getting a message out is always a good supplement to good old fashioned feet on the street.

Where there are so many choices, pounding on doors will probably make the most impact.

I have also been knocking on doors, meeting residents, sending out literature, going to meetings and events etc.
I agree with Craig that we need more unbiased outlets

Can you advise what the status is of the audit regarding the Smart Set misuse of funds?
Can you advise why as a member of the School Committee you voted to lay off 60 teachers yet have enough money for an audit?

The status of the audit is the EEC is still working on their part and when complete it will be made public with our internal audit. They came on the 13th and are doing full review of the program. The super reiterated last night audit once complete would be made public
No more people than the 5 involved. total 10k. 3 out of 5 have already paid full restitution
the cost of the audit is minimal and would not even bring back a para. It is standard practice of any workplace to engage outside assistance when these issues happen. I would like to pass the cost along to those who were involved but being a realist I know that that would be hard to recoup any of those costs.

I mean this seems like a pretty simple operation. How could it get taken advantage of so easily? Talk about responsibility? When things like this happen again and again and there isn't anyone held responsible or there isn't anyone in the whole school system that could do an audit of the situation.
I don't feel sorry for you losing any part of your budget.
