Supermarkets
Rats. mice and huge roaches crawling over food for beginners. Garbage laying everywhere and simple sanitation lacking almost everywhere is what I experienced in most of the markets, but S&S was the absolute pits.

I also spoke to him about cars blocking the fire lane and he just stood there looking stupid and said he had no control over it. Duh!

As for me using all of my energy to fight the stupidity of the S&S, I would rather just shop elsewhere, which I am doing. I don't feel it is my duty to help run a super marker if top management doesn't have the sensibility to check it's own operations.
I enjoy the courtesy and bagging at the Market Basket and the fact that a carriage is ALWAYS available and has 4 wheels working instead of 3. I also enjoy the neatness and many more choices, so wasting my time fighting for the S&S is nothing more than a waste because they will never be able to compete.
To end this...S&S prices have sky rocketed to being ludicrous. I am talking at least a dollar per item more than Market Basket.

I agree with you about the e-mail trail. However, I find first contact works best. Get the name(s) of anyone you speak to, then use those names when you e-mail. This shows that you are following up because the first crew did not help. If they did, no need to e-mail. Often that first e-mail goes unanswered in my experience. I, too, admit to the extra free item benefit if you return to the store and nobody fixed the pricing.
I still shop at Market Basket and, even though they are lower than S&S and Shaws, their prices are steadily creeping up. Sigh - I guess it's unavoidable.

My only problem with Market Basket however is they don't always have sale
items they advertise and that's the reason I go there. I plan my shopping
by sales. S&S is right up the street from me and I go out of my way to go to
Market Basket, so it does disturb me.
