The Chamber is offering a trip to China for all Brockton residents!
October 11-October 19, 2009
Info Sessions on April 13, 2009

The nine-day, seven-night trip runs from October 11 to October 19, 2009.  The trip is priced at $1,999 per person (based on double occupancy) and includes bus transportation to and from John F. Kennedy  International Airport, round-trip international airfare, four- and five-star hotel accommodations, all in-country transportation, three meals a day and fluent English-speaking tour guides.

The Chamber is sponsoring this trip to China in partnership with Citslinc International, Inc. The trip will take travelers through some of China's ancient cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou.  The Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City will be among the trip's highlights, as well as, Tiananmen Square and the Temple of Heaven.  An optional business conference will be held in Beijing for those interested in sitting face-to-face with Chinese business leaders in similar industries.

The Chamber will hold two orientation sessions with Citslinc representatives on April 13 for additional information and to answer questions. These sessions are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at New England Sinai Hospital, 150 York Street, Stoughton, and 5:30 p.m. at Stonehill College, Alumni Hall, 320 Washington Street, North Easton. A full itinerary and additional information about the trip can be found by visiting the Chamber's website at www.metrosouthchamber.com/china.html.  Space is limited.  Reservations can be made by calling Lisa Keene at the Chamber at 508-586-0050 ext. 225.

Citslinc, Inc., is a Chamber member who has partnered with other area Chambers throughout the country to offer new business opportunities in an international setting.  China is experiencing a huge economic boom and seeks to develop business partnerships with Massachusetts companies.  This trip has generated such a high volume of response in other Chambers which allows the cost to be so low.

Given the great opportunity and amazing sight-seeing, we invite all community members to attend.  The Chamber does service member businesses foremost, but we also support the community and efforts that make Brockton a positive place to live.  Having a strong residential and cultural community enforces a stronger business community.  Also, most of our members do live in Brockton.  We hope that any interested people will attend the meetings on April 13 to learn more about the trip.

The trip is offered at the same price for Chamber members and for residents.  No one is traveling for free.

Maybe the Chamber could travel to other towns/cities in New England to get some ideas on how to help Brockton.

Who cares if they are?  The Chamber is a private organization.

Alison,

Thanks for the response.

Hebrewhammer and I, at a minimum, are appreciative of the time you took to answer the questions.

The trip was great. Over 55 people went on the trip, and it exceeded everyone's expectations. Very knowledgeable and charismatic tour guides, first class accommodations, and a packed schedule. It was fascinating to learn about the culture, history, and economic boom and visit all the tourist attractions. Feel free to check out some of the photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/metrosouthchamber/sets/72157622 570494269/

The Chamber and CITSLINC will be leading another tour on October 11-19, 2010,
visiting Beijing (and the Great Wall), Xi’an and the Terra Cotta Soldiers, and the 2010 World EXPO in Shanghai.  Let me know if you are interested or have any questions.
