NEW BEDFORD — Negotiations involving a proposed resort casino on New Bedford’s waterfront took a quieter tone Monday, representing a marked change from the two days of bombast late last week that indicated the $500 million project could be close to a fiery end.

Mayor Jon Mitchell also said discussions continued, a week ahead of the March 16 deadline, for KG Urban’s initial application to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
